Where do the expeditions go?

This depends on a combination of factors.  The length of the expedition, the expedition company, the Expedition Leader, the ship and the weather and ice conditions all have an impact on where you will go.

We have described a basic outline of the expedition itineraries in our expedition section.   Expedition Leaders work hard to organize an itinerary that will give you the deepest and most varied experience possible.

This means you will be making landings on islands of the Antarctic Peninsula as well as on the continent itself.

Your landings will give you the opportunity to have close encounters with a variety of wildlife.  Some landings will include hikes to high lookout points, while others, more leisurely strolls along the coast.

You also may land at research stations and historical sites such as whaling stations.

You will also be cruising in zodiacs, which are a perfect platform to view wildlife and landscape from a different perspective.
